The story

Scattered across a hillside among cork oaks, the Almendres stones are one of the largest groups of megaliths in the Iberian Peninsula, raised by farming communities thousands of years ago. At dawn the light slides across them and the silence is complete. Your guide explains what archaeologists understand, and what remains a mystery.
