Castles, Villages and the Spanish Border
Monsaraz, the Village Above the Lake
Monsaraz
Walk the walls of a medieval hill village with the great lake below.

Castles, Villages and the Spanish Border
Stay in a restored convent, manor house or wine estate, where the day ends by the pool as the plains turn gold.
The story
Some of the finest places to stay in the Alentejo were once convents, noble houses and working estates. Restored with care, they keep their cloisters, chapels and thick white walls, and add quiet rooms, long pools, spas and kitchens that cook with what the land gives. Days are spent out in the country, evenings on the terrace, and nights in deep silence under the stars.
The day
We favour small houses that restore historic buildings, employ local people and cook with produce from the region.
