The story

On a wide estate of cork oaks and golden fields, a surprising chapter of the Alentejo unfolds: a safari park where herds of giraffes, zebras, antelopes, ostriches and other species live as they would on the African savannah — free to roam across the hills. Guests travel in an open safari vehicle with a guide who knows every animal by name, driving slowly between the herds as giraffes lean over the oaks and zebra graze within arm's reach. Between animal encounters, the guide explains the park's breeding and conservation programmes, and there is time on foot to meet the smaller residents before a relaxed lunch in the park's shade.
